I installed Ubuntu 12.04 "daily" to see what it was like, but since it was buggy and there were no new features I cared about, I decided to "destroy" it. A few weeks ago I bought a new one, a 500GB WD Scorpio Blue. I know it's not a solid state drive, but I need a lot of storage (I can't afford a big SSD, it's too expensive). I had to downgrade my Mac's EFI firmware for it to recognize the hard drive properly, but all works well now. Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 boots up in 15 seconds. And I'm not upgrading to Lion, it has some things I don't like (such as lack of Rosetta).
